Briefly about anorexia and its treatment

For several centuries, doctors have been faced with such an ailment as anorexia. At the beginning of the last century, it was classified as a mental illness. Anorexia is most common among teenage girls. It is certanly not a teenage whim or a result of popular hobby. When this disease occurs, the help of specialists is absolutely necessary. Patient is not able to deal it himself. Parental involvement is very important as well.

As we know, body and appereance change during the transitional age. A young lady often ceases to like her figure. It seems to her that no one can love her. Such excitement can encourage a girl to seriously engage in sports or concentrate entirely on studies.

Causes of the disease

In most cases, stress is the cause of anorexia. It can be a conflict at school, a change of residence, a divorce of parents, the death of a close person, and much more. Anorexic girls are extremely impressionable natures. For such behavior, magazine models and the cult of thinness are no more to blame than father and mother.

What behavioral deviations are typical for a girl who suffers from anorexia?

Sorting products. The young lady chews every bite for a long time, refuses sugar and fat, and counts calories. She would never mix foods. A diet without a goal. When a girl stops eating for no apparent reason, this is often a symptom of anorexia. During fasting, she is in a state of euphoria.

Hyperactivity. Anorexic people may exercise until exhaustion.

Disguise. When a young lady faces an ailment, she she acquires loose-fitting clothes. In addition, she refuses to eat under various pretexts like “I’ll eat later”, “I’ve already eaten with a friend”, “I don’t feel well,” etc.

Bulimia

There are cases when bulimia replaces anorexia. Then the disease is much more difficult to identify. Since the girl begins to eat and the previous kilograms again return to her. However, this does not solve the problem. Bulimia is indicated by watery eyes and blush. Sometimes a girl can use “cleansing” agents (diuretics, laxatives). In addition, she drinks about 6 liters per day. She hopes this will help her cleanse.

How does the body change with anorexia?

The girl’s puberty stops and the metabolism is disturbed. With weight loss, changes in heart rate appear, temperature and pressure drop, edema, problems with teeth, nails and skin occur.

What should parents do?

Above all, do not show your daughter your excitement whenever possible. If the child has symptoms of ailment, take him to a psychotherapist as soon as possible.
